Founded in 1940, the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) is the body responsible for technical standardization in the country, providing the necessary basis for technological development in Brazil.
It is a private, not for profit Organization, recognized as the only National Forum for Standardization.
It is a member of ISO (International Organization for Standardization), the COPANT (Panamerican Commission for Technical Standards), the AMN (MERCOSUR Standardization Association) and GEN (Global Ecolabelling Network).
ABNT is also a certification body accredited by Inmetro for certification of products, services, systems and people.
